The deposit minimum is the number operators advertise. The withdrawal minimum is the number that decides whether the deposit was worth making, and the two are set independently of each other. An operator with a £1 cashier minimum and a £10 cashout floor is a very different proposition from one where those numbers sit closer together.
The list comes from our operator database and changes as cashier limits change. For the licence details, banking pages and bonus terms behind each name, our UK casino reviews go through operators one at a time.
The rest of this page covers which payment methods actually clear £1, what the Gambling Commission says about your right to withdraw, what a quid buys in the lobby, and how to check any of it yourself.
3 minimums sit behind a £1 minimum deposit
A £1 minimum deposit casino is an operator whose cashier will accept a single payment of £1 into a real money account. A 1 pound deposit casino, a £1 deposit casino and a £1 minimum deposit casino all describe the same thing.
The tier is rare in the UK for structural reasons rather than regulatory ones. Card acquirers and payment providers charge a fixed cost per transaction, so a £1 payment can cost an operator most of its value to process. Larger brands set £5 or £10 instead and lose nothing, which is why the £1 tier skews towards smaller and newer sites competing for first deposits.
3 separate numbers get confused with each other on this tier, and keeping them apart is the point of everything below:
The cashier minimum. The smallest amount the payment page will accept, set per payment method.
The bonus qualifying deposit. The smallest amount that unlocks a welcome offer, set in the promotion terms and usually higher.
The minimum withdrawal. The smallest amount you can request back out, set on the banking page and rarely equal to the deposit minimum.
Which payment methods clear a £1 deposit?
At £1 the usable methods narrow to debit cards, with mobile wallets and open banking working at some operators and not others. E-wallets, prepaid vouchers and pay by mobile are typically excluded at this amount even when the operator supports them at £10 and above.
That happens because the minimum is set per method, not per site. A cashier can advertise £1 and still reject £1 on most of the options in its own list. The table shows which rails realistically clear the amount and what to check on each one before you commit.
The open banking provider can impose its own floor above the operator's
PayPal
Rarely
Minimums here are commonly £5 or £10 even when cards clear £1
Skrill and Neteller
Rarely
Often excluded from bonus eligibility as well as from small deposits
Paysafecard
Rarely
Voucher denominations start well above £1
Pay by mobile
Rarely
Carrier billing sets its own transaction floor, typically £5 or more
Prepaid cards
Rarely
Acceptance varies, and withdrawals usually cannot be returned to them
The exclusions matter more than the inclusions at this tier. If you were planning to fund an account through PayPal, the £1 headline will not apply to you, and the same is true of vouchers and phone billing. Our casino payment methods guide covers limits, fees and withdrawal support for each rail in full.
Why your £1 deposit gets rejected
A rejected £1 deposit almost always has 1 of 3 causes.
The method sets a higher floor than the site. The operator accepts £1, the wallet or provider you chose does not. Switch to a debit card and the same £1 goes through.
The £1 applies to the first deposit only. Some operators use the low figure as an acquisition offer and raise the floor afterwards. Reopen the cashier limits after your first deposit rather than assuming the signup figure stands.
The card is not in the account holder's name. UK licensees have to verify that the payment instrument belongs to you, so a partner's card or a joint account in another name will fail.
The withdrawal floor decides whether your £1 comes back
Your right to take money out is not set by the cashier. The Gambling Commission's position, published in its player guidance, is that you can withdraw your money at any time without unreasonable delay or restriction, and that you do not have to withdraw it in instalments.
The codes of practice put boundaries around what an operator may do to that. Where you ask to withdraw less than your full deposit balance, an operator may reasonably limit the size or number of separate withdrawals, provided it does so through a fair and transparent term you agreed to. Withdrawal fees are allowed but must reflect the direct cost of processing, must be disclosed before you deposit, and must not be charged when you withdraw your entire deposit balance.
A £10 minimum withdrawal on a £4 balance means the money stays where it is until it more than doubles, which on a gambling site usually means it does not come back at all.
The field that actually matters
A minimum withdrawal is a limit on partial withdrawals. If your balance is the whole of what you hold and you are asking for all of it, a blanket cashout floor is a much weaker position for an operator to hold than it looks on the banking page. Request the full balance, in writing, and keep the response.
This is why the withdrawal minimum, not the deposit minimum, tells you whether the £1 tier is usable at a given site. A cashier that takes £1 and a banking page that releases £1 describe a genuinely low-stakes account. A cashier that takes £1 alongside a £20 cashout floor describes an acquisition funnel.
Your complaint goes to the operator before anyone else
There is a fixed route for this, and it runs in order. Skipping a step sends you back to the start.
Complain to the operator first, in writing. Every UK licensee has to publish a complaints procedure. Use it, state that you are requesting your full deposit balance, and ask for a deadlock letter if they refuse.
Take it to the operator's ADR provider. Alternative dispute resolution is free and independent, and every licensee must name its provider in the terms. You can escalate once you have a deadlock letter, or once 8 weeks have passed without resolution.
Report the operator to the Gambling Commission, but expect nothing back. The Commission is not an ombudsman. It has no power to resolve individual complaints or to help you recover money, and it says so plainly. A report feeds the regulatory record on that licensee, which is worth doing and will not return your balance.
If the ADR decision goes against you, the courts are the only route left, which is rarely proportionate on a balance measured in pounds. Read the withdrawal field before you deposit for exactly that reason.
How to verify a £1 minimum yourself in 5 checks
Published lists go stale, ours included. This check takes about a minute and settles the question from the operator's own pages rather than anyone's roundup.
Find the operator on the Gambling Commission public register and confirm the licence is current. No entry, or a lapsed status, ends the check there. Our casino licence guide walks through what the register entry shows.
Open the cashier or banking page and read the minimum deposit field for each payment method. A single headline figure with no per-method breakdown means the £1 applies to one rail at most.
Read the minimum withdrawal field on that same page. If it sits far above the deposit minimum, treat the £1 as an entry price rather than a stake you can recover.
Open the welcome offer terms and find the qualifying deposit. This is a separate number from the cashier minimum, and £10 is the usual figure even on £1 sites.
Check the payment method exclusion list in those same terms. Wallets and vouchers are frequently excluded from offers even when they are accepted for deposits.
If any of the 5 cannot be found without registering an account, that is your answer. The same 5 checks sit behind every figure we publish, which is set out in our review methodology.
Why 2 accurate £1 lists can contradict each other
2 accurate lists published a week apart can contradict each other completely, and usually neither one is careless. Deposit minimums are set per payment method and adjusted by operators without announcement, so a site that accepted £1 by wallet in January may accept it only by debit card in March.
Aggregated lists also flatten the detail. A site with a £1 card minimum and a £10 wallet minimum gets published as a £1 casino, which is true and useless if you were planning to pay by wallet.
The field that settles it is the per-method minimum on the operator's live banking page at the moment you deposit. Nothing published anywhere, including here, outranks that.
The qualifying deposit for a bonus is usually higher than £1
£1 won't unlock the welcome bonus
A £1 deposit does not usually qualify for a welcome bonus. Most UK welcome offers set a qualifying deposit of £10, which is separate from and higher than the cashier minimum.
The cashier minimum is a payment processing limit. The qualifying deposit is a commercial threshold set in the promotion terms, chosen so the bonus pays for itself. An operator can accept £1 all day and still require £10 before anything is credited, and doing so breaks no rule as long as the terms say it.
Where something does exist at this tier, it is normally a small stake-based spin reward rather than a match bonus, and a deposit £1 get free spins offer is usually a handful of spins at the minimum stake. Wagering requirements apply to anything you win from them, and low wagering casinos explains which offers are realistically clearable on a small balance.
If the bonus is the reason you are here rather than the low entry point, the £1 tier is the wrong route. UK no deposit bonuses need no qualifying deposit at all, no deposit free spins work the same way, and UK casino bonuses lists what a qualifying deposit actually buys.
The £1 minimum can rise after your first deposit clears
Is the £1 minimum only for your first deposit?
At some operators, yes. The advertised £1 applies to the opening deposit as an acquisition offer, and the standing minimum for later top-ups is higher.
Nothing on the signup page will tell you this, because the signup page is marketing. The terms will, usually in a line separating the initial deposit from subsequent deposits, and the cashier will confirm it the moment you try a second £1.
Check the cashier limits again once your first deposit has cleared, before you have any reason to add more. If the floor has moved to £10, you have found out while your balance is still yours to withdraw.
£1 is enough to test the lobby, not a full session
10 spins at 10p
At a 10p minimum spin, £1 is about 10 spins. That is the whole budget.
Slot and table stakes
Low stake slots: from 10p a spin, so roughly 10 spins on £1
Scratchcards: typically 10p to 25p per card
RNG table games: roulette and blackjack from around 10p to £1 per hand
Live dealer tables: usually £1 and up, so one hand can be the entire balance
Volatility matters more than game choice on a balance this small. A high volatility slot pays rarely and large, which means 10 spins will almost always end at zero. A low volatility game pays small and often, which stretches 10 spins into 20 or 30 without ever producing much. Neither is better, but only one of them lets you see the game work.
£1 is enough to test a cashier and a lobby. It is not enough to test a bonus, a session or a withdrawal process. If this is your first account, online casinos for beginners covers what to set up before you deposit anything at all.
Identity verification, not the deposit size, sets the wait
Your first withdrawal takes 2 to 3 days
UK-licensed operators must verify your identity before releasing funds, so your first withdrawal takes longer than every one after it. 2 to 3 working days is normal once documents are in hand, and same-day is normal thereafter.
Expect to be asked for photographic ID, proof of address dated within the last 3 months, and proof of ownership of the payment method used. Larger or unusual activity can trigger anti-money-laundering checks and a request for proof of funds, and a small deposit does not exempt an account from any of this.
Submit the documents at registration rather than waiting for the cashout screen. Operators are not supposed to ask you for information at the point of withdrawal that they could reasonably have asked for earlier, and getting ahead of it removes the most common source of delay. Fastest payout casinos compares processing times once verification is complete.
Money also has to return by the method it arrived on, up to the amount you deposited. That rule exists to stop accounts being used to move funds between payment instruments, and it is why a deposit by a method that cannot receive withdrawals leaves you choosing a fallback at cashout. Where a processing fee is charged it has to reflect the real cost of handling the payment, which bites hardest on exactly the balances this page is about.
£1 against £3, £5 and £10
Each step up the tier ladder changes one thing more than any other, and it is rarely the games. What moves is payment method support at the low end and bonus eligibility at the top.
Tier
What changes
Best for
£1
Entry only, with the withdrawal floor usually sitting well above it
Slightly broader payment method support at the same low risk
Short sessions at minimum stakes
£5
The common floor across the UK market, so most rails work
Everyday low-stakes play
£10
Meets the qualifying deposit on most welcome offers
Anyone who wants the bonus attached
£1 is the wrong choice in 2 cases. If the withdrawal minimum sits well above it, you are spending the money rather than staking it, and £3 minimum deposit casinos run on the same operators with slightly more payment methods open to you. If you want the welcome offer, £10 buys the same lobby with the bonus attached.
Our guide to minimum deposit casinos compares the tiers in full, including who each one suits. Offer amounts across all 4 tiers are listed in GBP.
A licence protects funds and complaints, not service quality
What does a UKGC licence actually guarantee?
A £1 minimum tells you nothing about whether a site is safe. A current Gambling Commission licence does, and it is a 1-minute check on the public register, where the licence number, permitted activities and any regulatory action against the operator are listed.
What the licence guarantees is real but bounded. It means segregated or protected customer funds at a disclosed level, complaints and ADR obligations, advertising rules and verification requirements. It does not mean the operator is generous, well run or good at support, and it does not make a £20 withdrawal floor unusual. The £1 tier attracts smaller brands, so the register check matters more here than elsewhere, and new UK casinos covers what to look for on a site with no track record.
Set a limit, the house edge is identical at £1 and £100
The house edge ignores your budget
A low entry point should support a fixed limit rather than repeated top-ups, because the house edge is identical at £1 and at £100. Set a deposit limit before you play, keep reality checks switched on, and use self-exclusion or GAMSTOP if stopping has become a decision you keep having to make.
GamCare runs free, confidential support, and BeGambleAware.org is the place to start if any of this is landing close to home. Our responsible gambling guide covers the tools in detail. 18+ only.
6 questions about £1 deposits
Do any UK casinos really accept a £1 deposit?
Yes, but few. Most UK operators set £5 or £10 as the cashier floor, and the £1 tier skews towards smaller and newer brands. Check the minimum deposit field on the banking page rather than the signup headline, because it varies by payment method.
Can I use Apple Pay or PayPal to deposit £1?
Apple Pay sometimes clears £1, depending on the operator's own threshold for wallets. PayPal usually does not, because e-wallet minimums are commonly set at £5 or £10 even where the same site accepts £1 by debit card. The cashier shows the real figure once you select a method.
Why can't I withdraw my £1 winnings?
Usually because the minimum withdrawal is set above your balance, or identity verification is still outstanding. You are entitled to withdraw your deposit balance without unreasonable delay, so request the full balance rather than a partial amount and complain in writing if it is refused.
Can you still get a bonus if you only deposit £1?
Usually not. Welcome offers set a qualifying deposit that is separate from the cashier minimum, and £10 is the common threshold in the UK. Where a £1 promotion does exist, it tends to be a small spin reward rather than a match bonus.
Are £1 deposit casinos safe and UKGC licensed?
A £1 minimum says nothing about safety on its own. What matters is a current Gambling Commission licence, which you can confirm on the public register in under a minute. If an operator is not on the register, the deposit amount is irrelevant.
Is the £1 minimum only for the first deposit?
At some operators, yes. The advertised £1 applies to the opening deposit and the floor rises for later top-ups. Check the cashier limits again after your first deposit clears, because the signup page is not always updated to reflect the standing minimum.
